UNIQLO opens its doors on April 23

UNIQLO establishes itself in Gothenburg. The establishment is made in Fredstan at the best location in Kompassen, the intersection of Fredsgatan/Kyrkogatan. The store is spread over two floors and will offer Gothenburgers LifeWear – clothing for men, women, and children designed for a more comfortable and better everyday life.

The store will be the Japanese fashion chain's first in Gothenburg and the fourth in Scandinavia. The brand made its entry into the Nordic market in August 2018 and chose to do so in Vasakronan's iconic property Swedenhuset at Kungsträdgården in central Stockholm. Vasakronan is one of the players that has long-term and actively driven the development of Fredstan for many years, and today the area is one of Gothenburg's premier shopping destinations.

– Fredstan is now a distinguished district with an offer that is unique to Gothenburg. Eight million visitors come here each year to visit one of the over 200 shops and restaurants that are located here. UNIQLO is yet another strong and eagerly awaited contribution to the city's retail offerings. The store will become a destination for customers from the entire Gothenburg region, says Kristina Pettersson Post, manager, Gothenburg region, Vasakronan.

UNIQLO also wants to support young creators in the Gothenburg area. In connection with the opening, they have therefore initiated a collaboration with the Textile University in Borås. The joint project aims to raise awareness of having a circular mindset when designing. Therefore, students at the Textile University have been allowed to use leftover products from UNIQLO's Recycling Program to create and design new fashion creations from old materials. The creations will be on display in the store during the opening.
