Takeaway restaurant, gym, and coworking are ready for Kvarteret Johanna

The project, which began with the first groundbreaking in September 2022, is now taking shape and is expected to be a valuable addition to the city life of Gothenburg between Brunnsparken and Hotellplatsen. With 32,000 square meters for offices, shops, and restaurants, the block is a significant part of the city’s pulse.

The Stureplansgruppen will open a rooftop restaurant on Södra Hamngatan, featuring a large terrace. Nordic Wellness plans to open a gym on Drottninggatan, while Hufvudstaden introduces its coworking concept, Cecil, which has previously been successful in Stockholm.

“We are very pleased to present three key concepts that will add great value for the office tenants moving in. Good food in a pleasant environment and a gym within the block are things that many tenants are asking for and that contribute to creating more life and energy in Fredstan. When we add our own concept, Cecil Coworking, it also creates greater flexibility for the office tenants in the block,” says Fredrik Ottosson, head of the Gothenburg business area, Hufvudstaden.

The Stureplansgruppen looks forward to continuing its engagement in Gothenburg's restaurant life through the new rooftop restaurant, while Nordic Wellness welcomes the opportunity to offer its services to the new businesses moving into the block.

The decision to include coworking in the form of Cecil Coworking also provides greater flexibility for the office tenants in the block. This allows the workplace to be tailored to needs and creates a dynamic working environment for everyone operating in the area.

About the Johanna Block

The Johanna Block will offer a total of approximately 32,000 square meters of space for offices, shops, and restaurants and is expected to be ready for occupancy in early 2026. The name Johanna honors two Gothenburg institutions – the statue “Johanna in Brunnsparken” and the former restaurant Johanna.
