Hufvudstaden welcomes 88Market to Fredstan

At the beginning of summer, the restaurant at Drottninggatan 56 B opens in the middle of Fredstan – the area that Hufvudstaden is developing and that consists of the blocks around Fredsgatan, between Brunnsparken and Trädgårdsföreningen.

88Market will open its doors in the heart of Fredstan at the beginning of summer, offering Asian street food at its best. The menu includes fresh Asian noodle salads, pork buns, and banh mi. The inviting environment is unique and gives the feeling of sitting in a food market on a street somewhere in Asia.

– We look forward to opening our restaurant in the heart of Fredstan. We want our guests to find joy here, both from the food and the unique environment. That is also why we chose the name 88Market, which comes from Chinese culture where “88” means double happiness, says John Nguyen, co-owner of 88Market.

The ambition with Fredstan is for the area to offer strong international and local brands combined with culture, cafes, restaurants, and meeting places that make the area more pleasant and lively.

Hufvudstaden is working together with the City of Gothenburg and other property owners to strengthen Fredstan's attractiveness. By both preserving and modernizing parts of the area, the property owners, together with the city, aim to create a vibrant city district characterized by a clear identity, charming street environments, and many meeting places. In addition to 88Market, GANT will also open a flagship store in Fredstan at the beginning of summer.
